Crystal's journey into birth work began naturally, long before she even knew what a doula was. As the first among her family and friends to become a parent, she was often invited into birth spaces and regularly turned to for guidance on newborn and infant care. It wasn't until after the birth of her fourth child that she formally trained as a doula and began her career in birth support.​

For five years, Crystal worked as an agency doula, supporting families through some of life's most transformative moments. Following the passing of her father, she took a step back from agency work and travelled to Costa Rica, where she volunteered at a maternity home for Indigenous girls -- an experience that deeply shaped her perspective and reaffirmed her commitment to reproductive justice.​

In 2019, Crystal was invited to join Birth Mark, a charitable organization providing reproductive care to marginalized communities. Inspired by her work abroad, she stepped into the role of Operations Manager for the Hamilton location. Over the next four years, Crystal built strong partnerships with reproductive health advocates and community programs across Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara, helping to increase access and support for underserved families.

With the arrival of her first grandchild in August 2023, Crystal decided to return to agency work, seeking a balance that allows her to continue her passion for supporting families while spending more time with her own.​

Crystal lives in Thorold and is the proud mother of four incredible children, and now, a joyful "Lolli" to two sweet grandbabies. In her downtime, you'll find her wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a strong cup of coffee, listening to audiobooks, or enjoying a cozy campfire.​
