Hospital birth. Parents admiring newborn

Are there practices you do not readily or happily support during labour/birth, like epidural, cesarean, and induction?

Niagara Doulas provides unbiased, individualized support. Your birth is about you and your family, and has nothing to do with our opinions. Regardless of the type of birth you plan or the unexpected interventions that come your way, we continue to support you judgement free.

Caesarean birth. Parents glancing at newborn under curtain

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

Our doulas make it very clear to the medical team that we are not there to interfere with their jobs. We do our best to lighten any animosity that may be there and prove to them that we are there to co-operate and make this a good experience for you, while respecting medical boundaries. However, if our clients are not in a place where they can advocate for themselves, we will advocate on their behalf.

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

Our goal is to ensure that you and your partner have the most amazing experience together. Your doula will guide your partner on how best to support you while taking a step back to do all the "behind the scenes" work that helps to make your birth the memorable experience you want it to be.
